Developing Employability Skills and All-Round Development from the First Year Itself:
Maximizing Utilization of Time & Potential During Four Years of Engg.
Add-on Services: Champion Profile, JRI Notebook, and JRI Orientation Session.
Dear Faculty and Parents, Namasthe!
We are writing to draw your attention to the employability challenges faced by engineering students and propose an innovative model that can address these challenges right from the first year of engineering. The India Skill Report 2022 highlights that approximately 50% of engineering students are not employable. Lack of awareness regarding employability requirements and frameworks for self-assessment are among the key contributing factors to this situation.
To maximize the potential of engineering students during their four-year study, it is crucial to empower them to self-assess their employability requirements from the very beginning. Excelling academically does not necessarily indicate how close students are to achieving their dream job.
Employability is a multidimensional concept that encompasses various skills in appropriate proportions. Students need to understand that employability is not limited to securing a job on campus but also involves meeting industry demands, clearing exams during training, effectively utilizing the bench period after training, capitalizing on core project opportunities, and fostering long-term growth in their careers. In fully addressing the comprehensive employability requirements, what we need is a structured and strategically positioned approach, complemented by self-assessment tools.
Our innovative design, the Job Readiness Index (JRI) ©, is a simple yet impactful tool that allows students to self-assess their employability level in just five minutes. JRI serves as a compass for employability, laying the foundation for accelerated career growth. The JRI model has been developed by an IT professional with 27 years of experience across multiple domains, technologies, innovations, and social transformation. In addition to JRI, we offer the Champion Profile (CP), which comprises 18 attributes that go beyond academics and facilitate all-round development and performance excellence. 5E also provides a two-hour session on CP and JRI. Additionally, 5E offers the JRI Notebook, a valuable resource to aid students in their journey.
We kindly urge parents and faculty members to motivate students to create and track their JRI and CP profiles on the 5E website, empowering them to make impactful value additions to society.
We firmly believe that our innovative models can significantly contribute to your institution's efforts to empower students and address employability challenges.
Yours Sincerely,
Team 5th Year.
